Work Focus

In early recovery, young adults need to be in employment that supports their sobriety and allows them to begin to manage the inherent stress of working life. Through Sober College Academy, that supportive experience is given. Residents will go through a formal application and interview process and begin to work in jobs that are overseen and supported by Sober College staff and work mentors.

Sober College has created a partnership with the RIO Company, which is a major property development company in the Southern California Region. Through this partnership, Sober College provides the opportunity for residents to begin working and help provide funds for some of their basic necessities during their stay at Sober College.

Next Steps

Sober College Academy provides a foundation for integrity in the workplace. Once they have completed this initial internship, they have a couple of options. Some may continue in full-time employment with Sober College partners, while others, based on career testing and assessments will transitition into employment within the community, and begin pursuing a career while still being supported by Sober College staff.
