Open Mic Night led by Sober College Students
September 28, 2007- Sober College students participated in an open-mic night at Rock City Studios Friday night. This sober event had 60 young adults in attendance and commenced with a two-speaker Narcotics Anonymous meeting. Shortly thereafter, six Sober College students took the stage with the use of drums, guitars and song. “Open mic night is an opportunity for young people in sobriety to experience their talents without the use of drugs and alcohol,” began Eva Lopyan, Sober Mentor. “I was blown away at how talented they were!”
“Being able to witness young people in the program express themselves through music is just priceless,” said Loree Cohen, Executive Director. “The opportunities for activities like this are endless in the Los Angeles area. It is wonderful knowing our students are able to connect and have fun with other young sober adults. I feel that these connections are a vital part of their recovery.” |
