September 2006 For Immediate Release
Ryan Rocks the Rainbow Room. Standing Room Only for Sunday Night Performance.
Originally owned by film director, Vincente Minnelli, who was at the time married to Judy Garland, the Rainbow Room played host to "Ryan" at it's weekly Sunday Night Open Mike.
According to the current owner, "This is one of the best turnouts we've had all year. Ryan has quite a fan base. That's why we kept letting him play. Normally, sets are only a half hour, but this was a special situation. Good thing he didn't run out of material."
For about an hour, Ryan's soulful melodies and captivating lyrics entertained at the same venue where John Belushi ate his last meal and Joe DiMaggio and Marily Monroe had their first date.
In the 1970's, it became known as a hangout for rock musicians, especially those of the highest level of celebrity, and those who would follow them. Notable regulars at the Rainbow in this period include John Lennon, Keith Moon, Harry Nilsson, Ringo Starr, Neil Diamond and many others. Even Elvis Presley was known to have occasionally frequented the Rainbow.
"This was a tremendous opportunity for me to showcase at a world renowned venue", said Ryan. "If it wasn't for Sober College and the support of my family and friends, this would have never happened."
... an extension of the Sober College Music Program.
According to Nancy Tamkin, Director of Promotions for Sober College Music, "Ryan certainly is talented and motivated. His music brings to light the struggles of young adults today and his passion for music is clearly evident. He is exactly the type of artist that Sober College looks to bring exposure to. We look forward to his success."
