Saying `when' - Young Chicagoans nip drinking before it buds into a lifelong problem
Chicago Tribune

"Summer in the city is harder," said Christopher Frederick, 36, who chose to stop drinking almost two years ago, not because of a DUI disaster or other rock-bottom catastrophe but for his general health and wealth. His might seem like an eccentric decision in an era of arrested adolescence and sustained singledom for many people in their 20s and 30s. But Frederick isn't the only one who, to the cheers of researchers, has broken a social drinking habit that sometimes looks or feels a little too serious. Studies increasingly show that early intervention can prevent habits such as binge drinking--having five or more drinks per occasion for men and four or more for women--from ballooning into dependence. full story

Athens NEWS Campus Reporter

The new alcohol policy states that all students arrested by Athens area law enforcement agencies will be reported to the university, so these students likely will go through the OU judiciary process as well as the criminal-justice system. If a student is arrested for an alcohol or drug offense by the Athens Police Department, his or her parents will receive a letter from them as well. How Can I Tell If I Have a Drinking Problem?
The Answer May Be More Simple Than You Think

The short answer is if you have to ask, chances are you have a problem. If others in your life have told you that you have a problem, you probably do. If you have continued to drink in spite of negative consequences, that could be an indication of a serious problem. Most people who experience problems with drinking, simply quit. They have one particularly painful or embarrassing drinking incident, wake up the next morning and tell themselves, "Never again!" and that's it. They stop drinking; just like that, no problem. ... full story
